Loudaphone were formed in Brighton, around November 2002. Patrick joined founder members Andy, Adam and original guitarist Simon, after he answered their ad in the paper. In January 2003, Patrick recruited his friend Scott to take over on guitar when Simon decided to go to America. The new quartet found that they worked very well together and great music was being produced. The rest is history. Their sound is a mixture of uplifting, heart-tugging melodies and bass lines, combining an often harder indie/rock edge.

They have been playing around Sussex, London and Wales (their singer being Welsh himself) at such top venues as The Dublin Castle, Islington Bar Academy, Brighton Pressure Point, Cardiff Barfly and Newport TJ’s, steadily gaining a solid fan base and a reputation as a great, energetic live act.

The band got their name from a piece of equipment on the trains that Andy drives. A Loudaphone allows the driver and conductor to communicate with each other.

Andy MacArthur-Jones - Vocals, Acoustic Guitar
Influences - Jeff Buckley, Cream, The La's, The Beatles, David Bowie.
Andy writes most of the lyrics and his acoustic guitar parts, which the rest of the band build on. He taught himself to play guitar whilst at university, studying history and politics - essential literature for a rock band, he says.

   Adam Mckee - Drums
Influences - Blondie, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Buddy Rich, Police, Led Zepplin, Animal from the Muppets!
Adam has loved the drums since he was a child as his dad plays too. His love of drumming competes with his passion for rugby, and he is often nursing an injury whilst at the kit! Adam states"If I didn't have to eat, sleep or work I'd play drums 24/7!".
Patrick Harris - Bass, Backing Vocals
Influences - Pixies, Smashing Pumpkins, Jeff Buckley, Manic Street Preachers, Fugazi, Radiohead, The Jam, The Smiths, Ska.
Patrick has been playing bass since his late teens. He likes to write melodic basslines, because they are more interesting to play! He can also play guitar and sax, and is a lean, mean, martial arts machine!
Scott Reece - Lead Guitar, Backing Vocals
Influences - Wedding Present, Afghan Whigs, Longpigs, The Smiths, The Cure, Pixies, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Idlewild.
Scott has played guitar since he was 14 when he won a radio controlled tank which never got delivered - so he was given £150 compensation, which he used to buy his first guitar!
